‘A shared dream’

My father once handed me a photo album of my grandfather, who during his studies in Architecture visited many Italian cities. He took some remarkable photographs during these visits of details of buildings, windowsills, alleys, courtyards and ornaments. 

The most spectacular building he saw however, a building that most certainly would have left a big impression on him, he didn’t care to patiently photograph. The only photo he took looks like it was a quick glance over the shoulder. The image is blurry and vague, not as detailed and composed as his other photos. Maybe he didn’t have the time to plan his photo, maybe he was too stunned that he forgot to take other photos in the space. I certainly would have been. For some reason, this small print in his photo album left me with a desire…
