‘Exposure’

This experiment is closely connected to my recent works, by which I try to research how the 2d surfaces of photographs can manifest themselves in time and space by ways of physical interventions. In many sculptural ways, I try to have certain elements of the prints to separate from the image.

With this work I used sandpaper to highlight the texture of the wall behind the print. The surface of the wall is translated onto the print, now resembling an image of a far away galaxy, ironically imagery I wanted to recreate when I started at the academy. It seems this simple technique gets good results. An act that can be done in any space, to see what universe it might conjure.
